CONTEST RULES
- COMPETITIONS AIMS AND ASSIGNMENTS
- popularization of jazz
- supporting and promoting creative activity of the bands and soloists persuing various types of traditional jazz
- activation of creative jazz environments
- comparing the achievements of various music environments
- inspiring the creative approach towards the best traditions of jazz, which are the basis of the contest
- PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
- The soloists, bands and big bands persuing traditional jazz (blues, gospel, spirituals, ragtime, New Orlean, Chicago and Dixiland styles, swing) may participate in the contest.
- The application form should be sent along with the current recording. It should contain at least three pieces of music (jazz standards, one of which with the banjo).The participants can be amatours, as well as professionals with no age limits.
- The evaluation of the performers will be performed by the Jury, consisting of the best musicians and the authorities in jazz, appointed by the organizers.
- The contest is run in two stages:

- Stage 1 - selecting match, hearing the recordings sent by the participants and selecting the bands that will perform in the finale.
- Stage 2 - the finale, random live presentation on the stage of Louis Armstrong open-air theatre in Iława on 13th August 2010
Being qualified for the finale means taking part in the contest in the band category, as well as all the members of the band performing in the soloist category.
- PRIZES
- The Jury will award:

- Złota Tarka - the best band
- Złota Tarka - the best soloist
- Special prize for the best banjo player
- Additionally, the jury may or may not award the bands, soloists and arrangers.
- The decisions of the jury are final.
- Prize-winners are obliged to take part in the final concert, indicated by the organizers.
- ORGANIZATION ISSUES
- The application form and the recording should be sent to the organizers by 30th June 2008 with the footnote - "Złota Tarka Contest".
- The contestants will be informed about being qualified for the finale in the written form.
- The finale contestants will be provided with:
-
- accomodation during the Old Jazz Meeting
- free admission tickets to all the festival performances
- piano, drums and the sound equipment (the remaining instruments and voice amplifiers should be brought by the contestants).
- The organizers do not provide transport reimbursement.
- The contestants are obliged to take part in jam sessions, as well as other festival performances, which are not payable.
- The contestants agree to free radio and TV recordings and registering the parts of the concerts on CDs, as well as the reviews written by the publishing companies promoting the festival.
- Sending the application form means the acceptance of the regulations.
- The organizers reserve the right to decide the cases not covered by the regulations.
- The regulations along with the application form is to be found on the organizers' Internet sites of Polish Jazz Association and Iława's Culture Centre.
